1950 Gibson Southern Jumbo (SJ)
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1950 Gibson Southern Jumbo (SJ).
Great post-war SJ from 1950! The Southern Jumbo is renowned for its proficiency to belt out country rhythms or acoustic blues leads. Original examples are among the most prized flat-tops in today’s vintage market. This Gibson Southern Jumbo acoustic guitar features all the classic appointments: a spruce top paired with mahogany back, sides, and neck. The rosewood fingerboard is adorned with distinctive double parallelogram inlays. The Southern Jumbo was a model that according to rumor, Gibson made this model for their sales reps below the Mason-Dixon line. Basically the SJ was a replacement for the J-55. This Southern Jumbo is a great model, and a fancier version of the J-45. We have always loved SJs and round shoulder Gibson acoustics in general but this one has a robust sound and this guitar sounds as beautiful as it looks. With its slim C profile neck and 1.69"" nut width, it is very comfortable to play.
