1943 Martin 0-17

For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1943 Martin 0-17.

This is a nice wartime Martin that plays perfectly and sounds tremendous. Made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this 14-fret 0-17 features a solid mahogany body and neck, and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. It appears that at least the body was oversprayed (new finish over the original), given the lacquer spots on the edges of the bridge and the buckle rash that sits beneath a layer of finish, but this was done long ago because there is significant checking throughout. Other alterations include retipped tuners on the bass side (please note: the tuners themselves are original) and a hole at the endpin where a pick-up jack once resided.

Overall, though, this guitar is in good condition. It has the nicks and dings one would expect of an 80-year-old guitar that's been well loved, but we're glad to report that it passed our master luthier's careful inspection with flying colors. The luthier said it has a solid bridge, bridge plate, and bracing, has not had a neck reset, and shows no sign of needing one, ensuring many more years of classic Martin tone and playability.?
