1960s Ampeg ASB-1 Electric Bass Guitar
For your consideration, Garrett Park Guitars presents this 1960s Ampeg ASB-1 Electric Bass Guitar.
Referred to by some as the Devil bass, this certainly ranks among the more unique instruments we have seen here at Garrett Park. This Ampeg is truly one of a kind featuring a headstock taken straight from an upright bass, F-holes that are cut straight through the body, and a 35" scale length. The ASB-1 (Ampeg "Special" Bass #1) was the company's rarest production "horizontal" bass and was announced at the 1966 NAMM show. Fretted examples of these tend to be rarer than the Fretless variety so that elements adds a little more to the overall panache of this bass. The tone on this bass is real smooth with a great low-end punch.
